Intesa Sanpaolo Group, one of the most important European banking groups and the leading banking group in Italy, has 11.8 million customers and an extensive presence in Italy thanks to its approximately 3,700 branches, in addition to its more than 1,000 branches abroad. Intesa Sanpaolo has entrusted its translations to Arkadia since 2009.
The Challenges
During the public purchase and exchange offer launched by Intesa Sanpaolo on UBI Banca’s shares aimed at creating the leading banking group in Italy and one of the most important groups in Europe, Arkadia provided support to the Intesa Sanpaolo’s departments that were involved in the project, liaising with the external legal advisors and with the bank’s M&A Department in order to translate all the documentation into English.
The project proved to be especially challenging due to the numerous modifications that had to be made – in both the translation and layout phases – to the documentation even after our work had begun. As the transaction drew to a close, it was necessary to make as many as 3–4 updates a day in a matter of a few hours.
Another critical aspect of the project that required Arkadia to take extraordinary measures was the extremely confidential nature of the documentation.
The Solution
After putting together a team of 10 specialised translators, 2 revisers, and 3 DTP experts, Arkadia worked full-time on the project, including on weekends, in order to meet the tight project deadlines. The project manager’s coordination of the various professionals involved in the project was a key element to its success.
From a technical perspective, the best tools on the market were used in order to ensure the consistency of the translations. Computer-assisted translation tool MemoQ was used, as well as a frequently-updated terminology database that was approved by the client.
The Result
Arkadia delivered all the documentation – impeccably translated and laid out in high-resolution PDF format for printing and web publishing – by the agreed deadline.
This solid outcome is a testament to the smooth functioning of Arkadia’s project management model. Despite the tight deadlines and high level of challenges of the project, the translations were completed seamlessly and the client was highly satisfied.
